Hue Hotel

Dear all,

What's the final word on Hue hotels? So far seems like la Residence is the only one without bad reivews. Anything close to a boutique hotel available there?

The hotel situation in Hue is pretty bad. I'd recommend a daytrip from Hoi An instead.

We stayed at La Residence a couple of weeks ago - It was absolutely superb! Ask for a room with a river view - very spacious with a very large balcony. The entire hotel has been renovated in the Art Deco style. The only slight negative was that as it had only recently opened some faclilities (e.eg the spa were not open

We stayed at the Morin Hotel in Hue and found it simply wonderful. I don't know where Hastern01 stayed, but he/she certainly knows nothing about the Morin. It overlooks the Perfume River, the garden dining area is splendid, the rooms are immaculate, and the service is impeccable. The Morin was built years ago and reminded us of something starring Humphrey Bogart, Sydney Greenstreet, and Peter Lorre, complete with potted palms.

We also stayed at the Morin and loved it! One of our favorites and we stayed at alot of really nice hotels on our trip. I have read some unfavorable reviews though. Here is my conclusion: There are different types of rooms in this hotel (and others). Our room was huge and beautiful. One of the nicest bathrooms I have ever seen.

We stayed at The Majestic hotel in Saigon twice on our trip. The first nights we in what was called a deluxe. It was wonderful. High up, river views, double windows (quiet), nice bed, bathrooms, great robes and towels.

We came back for one night and they upgraded us to a suite. It was the exact opposite. I would never recommend this hotel based on the suite accommodations - which I'm sure are much more expensive than the deluxe. The bathroom was a joke, terrible bed and absolutely nasty robes and towels. It was noisy, hot and just plain gross. We could not believe it was the same hotel. That really made me realize how such opposing reviews take place.

Definitely the Morin. We had a memorable stay. gorgeous old room full of antiques. Large very clean and lovely artifacts. Nice marble bath. we really enoyed dining on the patio too. (except for the piped in Sinatra music!)
