How to reserve day at Elephant Conservation Center??

Hello. Maybe it's right before my eyes and I just don't see it, but I can't find a way online to reserve a day at the Elephant Conservation Center near Chaing Mai. (We want to go on Jan. 10th).

I filled out an online form at the following website over a week ago and haven't received a response.
http://www.changthai.com/reservation/index.html.

Is there an email address or some other website for making a reservation?

Thank you!!
Heather

If you just want to visit for the day, watch the elephants bathing, take an elephant ride, etc. I don't think you need a reservation. The reservation forms are for the mahout training courses.

Here is more contact info for the Elephant Conservation Center:

[email protected]
Address: Km. 28-29 Lampang - Chiang Mai Highway
Wiang Tan, Hang Chat Lampang 52190
Thailand
Tel: *66-054-2478
Fax: *66-054-2478

We enjoyed our time there. Kim Japan who posts on this board spent several days there with her family in a mahout training course. If you do a search you might enjoy reading about their experience.

Check out this center, it is supposed to be the best in Thailand.
And is listed in the Guiness Book of Records for elephant drawings etc...

we just got back yesterday from thailand, and we (family of 4 with 2 teens) did the 2 day mahout camp at the elephant training centre. we loved it! the best part was the morning of the 2nd day- you wake up early and go out into the forest to pick up your elephant, and you ride her/him back to camp. it was magical. for us the 2 day was plenty- there is a fair bit of repetition, and the accommodation is VERY BASIC. but you will really enjoy yourselves. a sleeping bag would have been nice (they do provide blankets, somewhat yechy though) but we did not have and it was fine. Enjoy! it is completely different to be there and participate rather than to just watch and take a short ride as the "visitors" do- being a mahout is a far better experience. we had no trouble getting a reply from "supat" who runs the camp- if you cannot get through, let me know and I will dig up my files for you (just returned yesterday and we are not unpacked yet)

I also have been waiting several days for an email reply concerning elephant camp. Just this morning my "failure notice" arrived. I checked the address and it was correct: [email protected]. I would really like to book a night there for our family. I will check out the other email addresses listed above. I could not find information about the one day camp either.

To soleil:

The email address you are using is valid, as is [email protected].
Let me know if you don't get a response.

Note that this is not the same place as the TECC, but there are very close links (the original 4 elephants were all from TECC, and now there are about 28).
cheers

soleil, the Anantara is a lovely resort in the Golden Triangle (about an hour away from Chiang Rai) that has a branch of the Thai Elephant Conservation Center on the grounds. In terms of staying there, this will be an entirely different experience from the TECC at Lampang, which is near Chiang Mai. The guest facilities at Lampang are very basic.

You might want to go to the Anantara website and take a look at the resort (note that there are Anantara resorts in Hua Hin and Koh Samui, for instance, so make sure you look at the one at the Golden Triangle).

Any reports or accounts of this would be greatly appreciated. Either post here or email me. My main interest involves the elephants and nature activities as opposed to the accommodations or food.

Thank you.

lynn, there have been many accounts here of both the TECC in Lampang and the elephant camp at the Anantara. Do a search on this board.

After reading some of the accounts, if you have questions, ask.
