How Safe Is Travel Now?

How safe is travel to India due to all that's going in the world with terrorism?

I have been wanting to travel to India ever since I studied its culture in college & this year I had seriously thought of taking my first trip there. But after all that's happened, I'm not sure it's safe. Is anyone going to India or any other destination cancelled due this reason or should I not be fearing to travel? Please advise & share your thoughts. Thank you!

I went to India 4 months ago. It was definitely a wonderful experience, espeially for a Westerner. My advise:
- be careful of haggling
- bargain on any purchases
- travel using trains for the best experience and meeting local population

From my experience, it was relatively peaceful country, and I don't think that any crises in the middle-east would affect India or tourism in India.
This is definitely a very good time of the year to visit India though.

In general, there is absolutely no reason why you should not be safe in India. Tthe only place you might avoid is Kashmir, due to the on-going terrorist incidents there.

I think India should be pretty safe in the sense of terrorism but you should be careful because a lot of people get killed there from the crazy drivers. This happened to a dear friend of mine and I hear of many instances like this near the big cities

I will be travelling to Delhi, Agra and Nanital in December. The UK Foreign Office say there is no reason to cancel, though travellers should stay vigilant.
