How Reliable is JetAirways ?!?!?

I've heard nothing but good about Jetairways reputation, but my sister inlaw and brother inlaw had a bad experience with them about 2 yrs ago. They went to the check out counter to board there flight from Delhi to Jaipur and they had a confirmation of a flight and the necessary documentation for flight times. Well get this the check in counter people told them that the flight they were booked for had left right before they got there. They told them they'd have to purchase another ticket. Well my sister inlaws guys had a relative with them that was from India and when he asked the counter people and threatened them to call police they suddenly said that there flight hadn't left yet. To make a long story short how do we Indo-Canadian/Americans avoid such fraud situations when travelling on our own??

Jet Airways is a world-class airline. I can attest to this from personal experience over the past 5 years. You can also look at other opinions here:

Now, I cannot speak to the specific situation you have described. I know that if you do not check-in before the cut-off time, the airline is well within its rights to deny boarding. At any rate, there will always be outlier cases of dissent with ANY airline. To get a truer picture, you have to look at a large sample of opinions. Jet Airways passes that test handily.

You do what you just did. Stand your ground and fight back. Call their bluff. Once when leaving India the customs agent decided to charge us duty when in fact it was completely unwarranted. We demanded to see his supervisor and actually followed him to his boss with determination in our souls! We were right and would not back off so he (the 1st guy) did. Its too bad but that is the way it is sometimes. Well done!

I fly domestic in INDIA all the time, and my pick of the bunch, (if i have a choice en route), is definately JET airways. Overall, a much better experience, service, planes, comfort, etc. Sahara is also a viable option, and last, but certainly not least,Indian Airlines. Of course, things/situations unfortunately can happen even at the best, but still, i would definantely reccomend this airline..Domestic flights in India, (in season) and on the popular routes are really heavily booked and even blocked by groups, and it is a good idea to get to airport as early as possible. IF you have a problem at check-in, there will ultimately be a solution. I have had nothing but postive experinces with jet, and they have been most accomdodating...i am happy they are out there, and as the other poster mentioned, Sahara is also a good choice.....happy travels..

I also have only had good experiences with Jet Airways. I have at any rate found them to be by far more reliable than Indian Airways (not the same as Air India!). I started avoiding them after they cancelled 2 out of ... 2 domestic flights I had booked on during a trip in India 2 yrs ago. Since then, Jet Airways, and again Jet Airways. I do not know about Sahara, never used them. Jet has a good website too, you can look it up and find out whether their extensive network fits your needs.

Another vote for Jet Airways, I have always found them to be reliable and professional. Also, they have the best in-flight food of any airline anywhere (as long as you like Indian veg that is).

You can have a bad experience with any airline, and Jet Airways I am sure is no exception. I could tell you horror stories about United, Continental and Swiss Air, etc., and I am sure everyone else has a bad story to relate about a particular airline. However, statisically based on my number of flights with Jet Airways, I would say they are a very trouble-free airline.
