How long is the drive from Pattaya to BKK?
I have read posts that say it takes anywhere from 1.5 hours to 3 hours to go from Pattaya to BKK. I assume maybe it depends on time of day and traffic. We will be taking a late flight, so if I want to arrive at BKK at around 10:00 PM, what time would I want to have a driver pick us up in Pattaya?

The easy asnwer is to ask the drivers, let them advise, just note for long hauls you seriously need to be there 2 hours ahead of flight time, it varies so much not only by time of day but day of week, Friday nights from Bangkok heading down is packed, Sunday night heading back into Bangkok is packed, add to this holiday, special ocassions, road works, something else going on etc it really varies, it's expressway ( dual highweay) all the way from Pattay to the Airport but those drivers know which way to take, they know best. Weekdays perhaps 2 hours to be safe but if it's friday or Sunday perhaps longer.
There are plenty of car+drivers available everywhere, if you want more comfort you can book the Airport Limo service or use Image Limo Car of Pattaya ( based Jomtien ) for a class comfort ride.

Thanks James. This will be on a Saturday night, so from what you are saying, Saturday might not be too busy. Do you happen to have email addresses or websites for the two companies you mentioned so I can ask for their recommendation as to when to leave Pattaya?

Apart from what James has mentioned I would leave Pattaya at 7.30 pm in order to be at Don Muang(BKK) at 10 pm. If you are further away, like around Jometien, I would give give a few minutes more.

Thanks Hanuman. I just don't want to get to BKK too early. We had a similar situation last year coming from Hua Hin when we arrived at BKK more than 3 hours before departure and couldn't even check in and go to the lounge.

Richard,
You can get really lucky with zero traffic and arrive at the airport in about 1.45 hours - 2 hours especially with a speedy driver. I think it's best to be on the safe side and give it 2.5 hours. Yesterday there was a depression storm over much of Thailand with lots of rain, over 12 cm an hour, and it took me 1 hour to drive home in what I normally do in 15 minutes.
