How far is Nagoya (tokyo tour) from Tokyo? Kyoto?

I am planning about a 9 day trip in Japan- starting in Tokyo and ending in Nagasaki where my husband and I are meeting a cruise.

As of now, we are planning to travel to Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nagasaki
My husband, however, is an avid car fan and wants to do the Toyota car tour. I looked it up and it says that it is in Nagoya, Japan.

Can someone familiar with Japan please help me and tell me where and how to incorporate this trip in my travels. Is it on the way from Tokyo to Kyoto? Is it a day trip from one of these cities? Is it even worth it?

Thank you so much!

Nagoya is about 2 hours more or less away from Tokyo via the shinkansen on your way from Tokyo to Kyoto. It is a main stop for all the shinkansen going from Tokyo to Kyoto. If you are using a 7 day JR Pass, http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2361.html which btw is one way of getting from Tokyo through to Nagasaki, your time would be close to two hours via the Hikari shinkansen.

Nagoya is worth at least an overnight to see the Toyota plant http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3308.html
and the castle http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2155.html

See this for information on how to get from Tokyo to Nagasaki via the train network in Japan.

A nine day trip from Tokyo to Nagasaki could include 2 or more days in Tokyo followed by a day or two in Nagoya followed by 2 or 3 nights in Kyoto then a night in Hiroshima or Fukuoka then onward to Nagasaki or something similar. If you want a specific itinerary just ask, I'm sure someone here will know the answer.

Aloha!
