How do you find things in BKK?

Greetings all. How does one find out, if not staying in a hotel, such things as where to buy a classical guitar, or a Buddhist Mala?
Many thanks.

i like the book by ron krannich, "the treasurers and pleasurers of thailand and myanmar"....it tells you lots of things about shopping in thailand...

look in the yellow pages...

go to a music shop and ask...

go to one of the big malls and check things out....

Go to Panthip Plaza, when you finish shopping/looking around walk out of Panthip Plaza and down the steps onto the footpath, turn left and continue along the footpath for a few hundred meters and you'll come to a guitar store. I was in there yesterday and they have an impressive range of classicals & acoustics. Alternatively continue walking along the footpath to you come to the next major intersection and turn left, continue walking along the footpath for a couple of hundred meters and you'll come to another guitar shop - mostly electric but some acoustics.

I love Nancy Chandler's map and the little book she has that goes with it, its my Bible for shopping in Bankgok. (My dream is to relplicate here in Hong Kong, but I don't have her patience.) The guide has info on shopping for just about every item you can imagine, as well as a guide to specific streets and areas of Bangkok. There is also a special section on the Weekend Market. You can it buy it on the web from her website (Nancychandler.net), or your hotel probably will have a copy in their gift shop or bookshop.

Pick up a copy of the Australia/New Zealand Women's guide to BKK. It has everything you need in there. If Asia Books or Kinokuniya are out, contact the NZ Embassy on Wireless Road (All Seasons Place/Conrad Hotel).

Yeah, I agree with Bisbee. That book has absolutely everything in it. It's a BIG book though. Happy Travels!
