How are the Thailand 4 Season Hotels
 

I just got an email that there is a new four season opening up in Thailand. I was thinking about visiting all of them with my husband. What are your thoughts?

The Four Seasons in Bangkok is an excellent hotel in the city center. There is a 4 Seasons resort in Chiang mai which is considered one of the best in asia. Where is the new one opening?

you may be referring to a new four seasons being built sort of behind the current one in bkk?? there was a posting here a month or so ago that said that there is now some question whether that will in fact end up being a four seasons...not sure when it will open in any case

I checked the web site Gloria and Bob - it is a tented "camp" in the Golden Triangle 1-1/2 hours from Chiang Rai near the border between Mai Sai and Chiang Saen.

It is the tented camp. I wonder if visiting Thailand is worth it? What do you guys think?

If you've not been to Thailand before, then you have not yet experienced the warmth and charm of the Thai people. Those of us on this forum who post regularly pretty much all agree that Thailand is at or near the top of our list of favorite places. YES, it is worth it to go to Thailand!!

I would not go to thailand or anyplace just to stay at a hotel because it is a part of a chain you like. Thailand is a wonderful, fabulous country and I'm about to go there for the 19th time. But you should do a little reading and decide if it interests you. If your only interest is this one hotel -- I'd say skip it because you will miss what is wonderful about the country and the people.

OK...I'm the Four Seasons-Bangkok fan on this forum. All the regular folks on this forum know that that's where I stay regularly. Hobbes stays there regularly,too. So you can page her on this forum to ask questions. I think she's in the "India" forum a lot now. I happen to love the place and consider it my home-away-from-home although I've stayed at MANY hotels in Bangkok as I vacation there often. There are many great hotels in Bangkok though. I try out different ones each time I'm there, but then always give the Four Seasons 3-5 days and revolve the other hotel stays around that. I wrote up a trip report on Bangkok and Singapore if you'd like to read it. It's under the "Boston GTG" thread...the very long thread. I'll top it for you. Click at the top, right portion of your screen where it says"jump to most recent post". Then scroll UP to around August 20th where I started my trip report while in Singapore and Bangkok. I was in Bangkok AFTER Singapore so you'll need to scroll down a bit. I have decribed my Four Seasons experience there and also given a description of the different types of rooms available. As for the hotel being built in the back of the Four Seasons....I was told by the "Guest Director" I think his title is that that's going to be a Ritz Carlton...NOT a Four Seasons and that the Ritz Carlton might have already pulled out of the deal and it might end up something else. I had a view of the structure from my room and was curious and asked about it. Happy Travels!

As Guenmai said I love both the Four Seasons in bangkok and Chiang Mai. I would say plan your Thailand trip to include them and the new tented property. You won't be disappointed. The service in Thailand is great as is the food, the sights,spas, the shopping. Money goes a long way. It's a great place to holiday. And if you want to check out Four Seasons properties, you have even more incentive to go!
