hotels in vietnam and cambodia
We are planning a trip to Vietnam and Seim Reap in Cambodia. I would appreciate input on the following hotels:
Metropole in Hanoi
Desyloia as a less expensive alternative
Imperial Hotel in Hue
Palm Garden Resort in Hoian
Caravelle Hotel in Saigon
Hotel de la Paix in Sein Reap
Hotel One in Seim Reap

The Metropole is the best hotel in Hanoi. It struck me as rather formal. Many have said that the rooms and service are lovely.
I stayed at the DeSyloia. We asked for a small suite, and they upgraded us to a huge suite. It was a nice hotel with a very good restaurant. We found the hotel employees to be very helpful.

www.tripadvisor.com will give you hundreds of reviews for these hotels too:
Metropole is as Kathy said: make sure you get one of the rooms in old wing.
The Imperial in Hue is kinda strange, huge rooms and the absolute worst/best cultural show in the world
Caravelle is top range in Saigon - very good buffet - Renaissance Riverside is good too.
Hotel de la Paix is an absolute must! Just a knock out, suites, pool, service, food and above all, design
Hotel One is, I think the one room hotel in Siem Reap? If it is it looked like fun.

Metropole - IMO overated, small rooms & poor service.
Carvelle is IMO probably the best in central Saigon (great rooftop bar - Saigon Saigon)
Last year we stayed at the newly opened La Residence in Hue - absolutely superb Art Deco hotel in the former french ambassadors residence. Large room and right on the river.
