Hotels in Thimphu, Paro, and Wangdi, Bhutan
 

Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Phuntsho Pelri in Thimphu, the Village Lodge in Paro, or the Punatsangchhur Cottages in Wangdi?

To tell you a bit on me, I have been to Bhutan four times now. I was there firstly in 1999 and lately this year. My Bhutan tour organizer since the time had been professionally responsible that each time I visited Bhutan was a new experience. So they got me visiting Bhutan over and again each time I plan a vacation. From my experience, I would recommend the following:

Paro: Hotel Olathang or Ugyen Phendiling Resort(hope I spelled it right),
Thimphu: Hotel Chumolhari or Hotel Kisa,
Wangdi: Dragon Resort but I never stayed at Punarstangchu,
Trongsa: Yankhi Resort,
Bumthang: Swiss Guest House or Gonkhar Guest house.

I agree with Johnsean on hotel recs for Paro and Trongsa.

Today you have choice of hotels. Newer hotels in Paro are better than most old hotels. Right from mattresses to clean and spacious receptions. Trongsa you have no choice other than Yangkhil because thats the only good hotel available. Bumthang: new wandicholing hotel, Peling hotel are better than rest of the hotels.

We ended up staying at the Hotel Olathang in Paro and the Hotel Kisa in Thimphu - both very nice and very different.
