hotels in Luang Prabang - Aspara, Ramayana or Lotus Villa Laos

Based on Trip Advisor reviews & recommendations on this forum, I booked a room at the Aspara for my husband, daughter & I in late December. The cost is $150 per night for the upstairs superior room with balcony. I thought that price seemed a little high & started checking other hotels. The Lotus Villa Laos is almost as much at $140 & does not have a river view but looks like it has a nice courtyard area. The Ramayana is $65 on Agoda, which seems like a great price. Any opinions on these hotels & prices would be greatly appreciated.

I only know of the Apsara, it's in a nice peaceful location and the restaurant is fabulous. LP is not cheap these days so $150 sounds ok.

We stayed at Apsara in January in an upstairs superior room in the main building. We loved it! Our room was lovely and had a small balcony overlooking the street and the river...all very peaceful. They had great breakfasts & the staff were very accommodating. I don't think we paid quite that much, but I do remember thinking we were paying a lot compared to some of the other places on TA that I checked. In the end we couldn't have been happier with Apsara. Don't recall the other places you mention.

Thank you for your responses. yestravel, I booked the Aspara after I read your trip report. They have been a little flaky on their confirming emails & details. Was that the case when you were booking?

No, we didn't have any trouble with making reservations. I think they may not have answered my questions/emails each day, but did answer within a few days which wasn't unusual in my dealings with places ad people in SEAsia.
