Hotels in Chiangmai

I have read so many postings regarding hotels in Chiangmai. I will be going at the end of this month and am undecided between 3 hotels: Lotus, Raming Lodge & Yaang Come Village. Has anyone stayed in any of these hotels? Your comments will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all the info that his been posted about Thailand. It is extremely helpful.

Raming and Lotus seem to be a good step down in quality from YCV based on their websites. They are also about 1/3 - 1/2 the price of YCV. We've stayed at YCV and liked it a lot. Neither Raming nor Lotus seem to be of the same style. Depends on what sort of place you are looding for I think.

There is tons of information on here about YCV. Try looking at the review on sawadee.com and tripadvisor.com as well. I don't remember reading any reports here about Raming or Lotus.

Raming Lodge is a fairly new place (about 2 yrs old) in a good location and about a 10-15 minute walk to the night market. Has been getting good reports but note it has no pool. Quite a bit cheaper than the YCV but then it is classed as only 3*. The YCV is more luxurious if that is what you are looking for.
Don't know anything about the Lotus. Or do you mean Lotus Hotel Pang Suan Kaew. If you do then this place has some rather poor reports and is a fair distance from the night market.

We had an extended stay in the Lotus whilst we were building our house and I would not recommend it for a tourist. Even though its location is good – unlike Scotters I don’t see being near the Night market as an advantage!

Thank you all for the info. I will review info on YCV. More than likely...that is where I will stay. This is a wonderful site to get info from fellow travellers.

Based on reviews from this site we stayed at YCV in Jan. Well worth the better room upgrade. (ask for an upper floor) A bit surprised that bathrooms were not A/C - however, it was no big deal. Big bathroom, however, be aware of the trechreous big step down from the bedroom/dressing area!!!! Nice pool, appreciated little touches like, fresh fruit each day and mini flower gifts on your bed. The atmosphere was better than a big hotel and everyone was very kind and helpful. It was a real treat to have free internet at the outdoor reception area. We also had some good light, late night snacks at the restraunt. We would most certainly return.
