We decided on the Royal River in Bangkok, the Tamarind Village in Chiang Mai and the Baan Haad Ngam in Koh Samui. Any review on those? (and they are prepaid, so please, be kind!)
Any malaria concerns in any of these places that anyone knows of from personal experience (already read the CDC and govt websites!)
Thanks, Btjdin99

bt -- we're staying at the royal river for 3 nights end of this month. i'll be sure to report back. rhkkmk has stayed there as well. asiahotels.com reviews are very good. while the location may not be prime, being on the river, price and reviews make it a fine choice for us. for those who know me previously saying we were staying at chakrabongse lodge, we decided to save a little money as we will only be there to sleep (mostly).

i am staying there again in june for three nites as part of my N/W package...the price is right....it is decent, or at least it was several years ago when we stayed there...they have very limited boat service to river city...they are next to a bridge that goes directly into the middle of the town for easy transportation, but you will have to take a taxi i think...the room we had was very large...

We recently stayed at Baan Orapin Bed and Breakfast in Chiang Mai. It is lovely. Tucked away behind a gate, it is like entering a private santuary. We stayed in a suite ($60/night) and couldn't have been more pleased. Towering jackfruit trees and lush gardens surround the guesthouses. The rooms have wooden floors, airconditioned bedrooms, beautifully tiled bathrooms, and outdoor seating to enjoy the enchanting grounds. Opas, the owner, could not be more accomodating. Upon our late arrival, he met us and spent time making sure we were comfortable and welcome. He arranged tours on the spur of the moment. The breakfast menu offers western and Thai dishes. It is very conveniently located near the walking bridge that crosses the Ping River into the market district. It is an easy walk to the Night Market. I would not have been more pleased.
