Hotels in Bangkok
Hi,
I have been reading all the messages and they have been very helpful in planning our trip. I would like suggestions of good, clean, affordable hotels in Siam (price range $50-100). We are 2 females in our 20s going in Feb and friends of mine who have gone to Thailand suggested that we stay in Siam because its close to transportation and restaurants, etc. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Let's see... the Asia Hotel is in that price range, as is the Siam City hotel, although technically neither one of them is really in Siam. They are 1 - 2 stops away. VIE is a new hotel in the Accor group (same class as Mercure). It's at the top end of your budget, but is probably the nicest. The Arnoma is also very close to Siam and in that price range.

For two young ladies like yourself the place to go is funky Khao Sarn Road. This area used to be all budget accommodation but it now has its upmarket accommodation.
This is the area renowned for young travellers coming to Thailand. The best and most expensive place in this area is still within your budget. Beautiful Buddylodge has rooms around $70 a night. See their website: http://www.buddylodge.com/buddylodge.php |
Me thinks Siamjai is a troll. You want to stay away from Khao San.
|
Yes, stay away from Khao San..trashy in all respects.
I would recommend the Swiss Lodge in that price range. Do a search for it..You should have no problem finding a nicer room in that area. |
If you want a good hotel at a great price, try priceline.com.
First check out biddingfortravel.com. The latest winning bid for Siam Square was 5* Amari Watergate Bangkok Siam Square $97. The 4* are less. Can't be beat. You will benefit from learning priceline. BTW, for transportation, it might be better to stay be the river. What do you think, people? ((*)) |
Personally, for transportation and good restaurants, it's pretty hard to beat the Sukhumvit area.

i got the amari watergate for $96 on priceline. waaay too high. agoda had it for $70, incl breakfast. location too congested for me. also, internet fee was 750b per 24hrs. will write about other hotels later.

You might also look at the
Evergreen Place Apts. which are located close to the Asia Hotel (already mentioned. The advantage of an apt is that they are larger than a normal hotel room. http://www.evergreenplaceapartment.com/ Also look at the Bossotel Inn located near the river and within easy walking distance of the skytrain and river ferries. http://www.bossotelinn.com/ For young people the Khao Sarn Road area is not that bad as long as you stay in the area and not on the road itself. Bound to meet lots of young people here if that is what you want. Look at Navalai which is on the river by a ferry pier http://www.Navalai.com |
