Hotels in Bali

Where to stay? Will have some days in the south and cannot decide between Bali Hilton and The Intercontinental. Also some days in Ubud and we have narrowed it down to Alila Ubud (former Chedi) or The Kamandalu. Please help us with some inputs if you have stayed at any of these resorts.

Hi,

it might be worthwhile to try the balitravelforum.com or baliforum.com, there are a lot of postings re: hotels there

good luck on your trip

Just got back from Bali today. Maya Ubud in Ubud is excellent--you should be able to negotiate a good deal as occupancy is only 30%. The resort was built in 2001 and should be far better than either the Chedi (Alila Ubud) or Kamandalu--also cheaper. Watch out for the charges for taxi fares into town (in the evening) and for phone calls. Eat in town rather than at their restaurants.

For the south please do not consider Bali Hilton, stayed there for 2 weeks 1,5 years ago and found it very dated and tired although the entrance and the location is great. The places to stay are either Nusa Dua Beach Resort & Spa or the Grand Hyatt.

Well, I hope The Hilton will not be too bad, because that is the resort we have booked, the ayodaya club level.

The Intercontinental is better than Hilton. But for the same price consider the Ritz Carlton.(US$125) Kamandalu and Chedi are equally nice with the Kamandalu being more intimate as it is smaller. The Chedi has better views tho as it's perched on top of the Ayung River. Do try the four hands massage at the Chedi. Both are excellent hotels.

Where can you get RC for USD 125, the best I got was USD 145++.

Don't know if you have traveled already, but I would recommend the Ritz Carlton. Absolutely fantastic.

I don't believe there is a Hilton in Bali. Their used to be one years ago, but not anymore (it is not on their website or the 800#).

Have a great time!
