Hotel recommendation-Ho Chi Minh City
 

Hi all,
We have just 2 nights at the end of our Vietnam trip to spend in Ho Chi Minh City.. after all the travelling, we'd like to stay somewhere fairly nice but most importantly somewhere central. We will be doing the Chu Chi tunnels trip on our first day and then would like to be able to explore ourselves from the hotel on the second day. Our budget is about $100 per night. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated? Thanks all.

i think that Oscar Saigon Hotel is suitable for what you are looking for. it's on Nguyen Hue street- the popular walking street in Ho Chi Minh city right now. there are lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. it costs about 50$ per night.

Rex Hotel, Hotel Continental well located in Saigon.

For $100 you could get a room in the Continental right in the centre. The Rex would be more expensive. Both are close to one another and are "historic" places deeply connected with ten recent history of Vietnam. The downside is that they are a bit soulless these days and there is a lot of construction for the new subway going on at the moment.

We stayed earlier this year at the Pullman Saigon, a little bit out of the centre but a lovely hotel and should be within your price range.

Our last couple of stays this year have been at Ms Yangs Homestay on the edge of D1 and D3. Close to the Reunification Palace and War Remnants museum. Lots of great restaurants close by, much more of a local feel and the friendliest place I we have stayed at in our last year of travelling in Asia. A bargain at around $20 - spend the difference at some of the amazing restaurants in the city :-)

A good old hotel for atmosphere, location in Saigon is the Majestic at 1 Dong Quoi, right opposite the river, centre of town.

If you only have two nights, stump up for it. Rooms are nice, the rooftop bar is a great spot for looking out on the endless traffic, even if you choose not to wade out through it.

Saigon is a bit off lately, though, the development is outpacing the good things that used to keep it in balance.

Hi all, Thanks for your help. We ended up staying at the Nikko Saigon as friends that we hadn't intended to meet ended up being there at the same time as us. It worked out really well as we were given an upgrade to a suite!! Not that we saw much of it with all the sight seeing but still it was nice to relax in a spacious room with windows on 3 sides at the end of our trip. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Might I add that the Nikko was really cool. We had stayed in mostly colonial/ old type hotels ( which is more our style to be honest) up to that so it made a nice change to stay in somewhere ultra modern. The service was excellent! And the location though not smack bang in the centre was still good.

Within a budget of 100$ per night there are plenty of decent choices for you. Pullman, The Continential or a fair Caravel hotel room could be considered.
