The new airport is far from the center of the city. There won't be a place that is close to both.
It hasn't opened yet, so I'm not familiar with the hotel situation. I have gone out to see the new airport and I seem to remember a Sofitel and a Novotel being close. But they are still about an hour from the city center.

Just as Brad has said, there is the Novotel Bangna which I 'guess' is about 25 mins from the airport, Royal Princess Srinakarin also roughly I 'guess' about same distance.
There have been suggestions for others which are close to expressway access to make getting to the airport easier.
I would really go for the hotel that suits you visit to Bangkok as the priority.
We need Brad, Michael or maybe Orgy7 to do a run from the airport and write down the places close/on the way!! Any takers ?
