Hotel near Bangkok airport
 

My husband and myself are going to Thailand on January 13 for 2 weeks. We will be staying in Bangkok for 2 days before going to Koh Samui. We would like to know of a good hotel that is close to the airport. We visited Thailand for 6 weeks 2 years ago and have seen Bangkok. We are staying for 2 days to rest up before going on to Koh Samui. We would like to find something for no more than $100.00. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

I am not sure why you would want to stay at the airport for two days to rest up. There is nothing to do out there and I would head to the centre/river for two days.
I am staying one night before flying out again next month at the Convenient Grand. Right now with Booking.com you can get a room for under $50.
In Feb. I stayed at the Cottage Suvarnabhumi which has free pickup/drop off as well and the rooms were very nice. I am not staying there this year because there are three of us in the room. Thier rates are around $30 but again, I would only stay for a stopover, one night. Not because the rooms arent nice, they are, but there is nothing around there to go to or any other resteraunts near by.

To get to and from the city is not that far and then at least you can go out to resertaunts and such.

Novotel a good one there for me

Novotel does not meet their budget, qwo. It is very nice, but closer to $200 with taxes.
If you are arriving late at night and leaving early morning a day later, I can see staying out at the airport, especially if you have no desire to visit the city. Otherwise, I'd also choose a hotel in a more interesting area.

Novotel is very over priced. The lobby is nice, but the rooms are very basic. I would not stay there again.

I see the best western gets good reviews and also has a 24 hour rate like novotel.

We are not arriving in Bangkok until around midnight so we will really only have one day to stay at the hotel. We will depart on the second day in the am. So we really are staying 2 nights but the first night we will be very tired!! We have been looking at 2 hotels, Suvarnabhumi Suite Hotel and Grand Fourwings Convention Hotel. What do you think of each of them? Is one better than the other? They both provide transportation and breakfast. We are leaning toward the Suvarnabhumi.

Also we need to know what site to get on to arrange a flight from Bangkok to Koh Samui. Which airlines fly there?

"I made a mistake with that booking. The hotel is excellent, the price was low, the rooms are spacious, western style and air-conditioned, excellent (but not air-conditioned) restaurant and free shuttle to the airport. Despite the name the airport was a 15 minute drive; but the main problem was that the drive to the city in a cab was at least an hour in the constantly-clogged Bangkok traffic and smog. Next time I will book a hotel in the centre of town. But if you want a hotel closer to the airport, it’s not a bad choice."

Personally, with two days to fill in, I would stay closer to a nice location and just accept the long shuttle to there.

Bangkok Airways. They own the airport in Samui and is the only one in the world which I know of which provide free refreshments!
