Hotel Kapok, Beijing

I've discovered this "Fodor's Choice" boutique 89 room very modern hotel just a few blocks from the East Gate of the Forbidden City and "less than a block from Donghuamen night market". It looks great and is available at about $105 US a night, including wifi, etc., etc. and cancellable rates (possibly much better closer to my travel). The only "drawback" Fodor's mentions is no pool. I don't care. And trip advisor reviews mainly only mention hard beds (but I like sleeping on the floor, so what do I know?)

Any other knowledge of this hotel?

NeoPatrick, read this trip report. This person stayed at the Kapok recently.

Thanks sdtravels, both for that (the search here found nothing with Kapok) and for the link to that very compete and interesting trip report. Still sounds good to me. Interesting that on two reviews I saw mention of a really helpful trave agent off the lobby where English seemed to be better than at the reception desk.

Meanwhile I found this hotel for my dates on Agoda for $78 US a night for 5 nights (my plan) and just a one day cancellation policy. Kind of hard to beat. I think I may do that, even if I do find something else meanwhile. The bathrooms seem exceptional, and since I will be alone I don't have to worry about that wall of glass separating it from the bedroom. Also all rooms have free wifi (as opposed to the often mentioned overpriced computer available in their business center).

Well that link was interesting, but oddly the main hotel it touted is more than double the price of the Kapok (and reviews seem far less complimentary and there are many references to it being more out of the way. And while that link insisted not to book till just before you go, I've noted that prices are way higher a week from now than they are 6 months from now (even though summer I thought would be higher than February) so I'm not sure how that suggestion makes much sense. And contrary to some suggestions, I'm just not big on arriving in Beijing and traveling all over the city looking to book a hotel on the spot, even it it would save me a few dollars, but lose a day doing so.
