Hotel in Langkawi

I am a 60 year old widow planning to spend a week on my own in Langkawi in February 2016. any ideas. I like a hotel with a lot going on in the evening, and I would like to be able to walk safely on my own during the day.

What sort of price range are you looking for? Langkawi is generally a pretty safe places for walking around although many of the bigger, more expensive hotels tend to be a bit isolated. Plantain Cenang has the most hotels and has more going on with regard to eating out, bars etc.

Bon Ton, more homely than many, maybe worth considering and also Tanjung Rhu. We stayed at the latter a few years ago and there was certainly a lot going on. From memory they have some sort of "all inclusive/ dine around option" which was great value. A rental car is a good option to explore the island.

Thanks for that. I do not want an expensive hotel, as you say, they are more isolated. a medium range hotel would suit me better I think. I shall look at your suggestions. thanks.

I second Bon Ton, one of my favourites BUT if you don't like cats I wouldn't even consider it!
The restaurant there is lovely and it's only a short drive from the main village.
