hotel for quick stopover in Bali?
looking for a hotel for one short night in July in Bali. married couple in 40s arriving in the early evening, leaving next morning on ferry to Lombok. Don't want to spend lots...preferably under US$ 80. Know anything fun perhaps within walking distance to rest/bars/waterfront/beach? Don't need fancy, just clean, maybe unique, or different or fun.
Please feel free to recommend a Hotel paired with suggestions for how to spend one eve in Bali!
Thanks for your time and all suggestions and tips!

Your ferry is probably out of Padang Bai. I think that's still where most of the high-speed boats for Lombok use. Padang Bai itself is a bit of a pit, but Sanur would be close by. Candidasa would be even closer. The Alam Asmara resort is at the high end of your budget but very nice. Le 48 is a bit cheaper and even more centrally located. Candidasa has a surprising number of good restaurants in the central area around the lagoon. For one night, it's perfect.

Your overnight destination would depend on where your ferry leaves from, at what time and how early you're willing to get up in the a.m. As noted, Candidasa and Sanur are the closest beach areas to Padang Bai Harbor. Benoa and Nusa Dua are closest to Benoa Harbor. These are all okay beaches with some good choices in restaurants, but more on the quiet, early side.
For more upscale choices in restaurants and clubs I'd head toward Seminyak/Petitenget, but bear in mind, it's an hour+ to the ferry terminal.
For an inexpensive place to stay, try the L Hotel. Have cocktails at Kutdeta either before dinner (sunset) or after dinner. Dinner at LaLucciola, Sardine or Sarong.
If sleep in not on your agenda late night at Hu'u Bar or Mexicola.

Dont know....I would suggest, try the hotel website. Or try for a hotel through Bali Discovery Tours, owned by an American called Jack Daniels (!) as they usually have competitive prices and excellent, reliable service including cars with drivers.
