Hotel for 4 in China

My family (incl a 8 and 6 yr old)will be visiting Malaysia and China in June/July. We are having a real hard time finding hotels that will let us have the 2 kids in the room with us. At this point we are looking for a place to stay in Xian and Hong Kong. Does anyone have any suggestions for hotels or any other kid related tips.

Thanks!
Yvonne

try looking at the large western chain hotels....often hotels restrict it to one child...maybe you can find a double double... or a king and a rollaway would work too..

One option might be a serviced apartment - these generally have hotel-like amenities (pool, restaurant, airport transport) but separate living/dining/kitchen areas. A one-bedroom may also have a pullout couch in the living room.

Serviced apartments tend not to be cheap. However, we've found traveling with relatively young children (4.5 and 6.5 years old on our last trip) that the extra space, the washer/dryer and refrigerator were all well worth it.

The Salisbury YMCA in Hong Kong has family suite (one king bed and a sofa bed). The summer rate - I just checked - is $220.

Remember that the Y in Hong Kong is not ordinary Y. It is next to the Peninisula Hotel and its location is one of the best in Hong Kong.

You know I have never used any of these people but had been checking them for our recently completed trip to China

We stayed at The Bell Tower Hotel in Xian last week with our 3 kids (aged 13, 10 & 2.) We got a "Super Deluxe Double" room for 700rmb (upon check-in) which had 2 full-sized beds and a large sectional couch. The 10 & 2 yr old had plenty of room on the sectional, and the 13 yr old slept in one of the beds.

We just came back from 12 days in Hong Kong and Beijing and had the same problem. We brought our 7 and 9 yr old kids and were told that we must get two rooms because of fire regulations on how many in a room. We ended up with connecting rooms in HK at the Sheraton with a great harbour view. I have to admit it was nice having that much space and two bathrooms as well.
