Hotel Choices Bangkok

I have a choice of 4 Seasons, Oriental, Sukotahi, Banyan tree or Conrad, all for about the same price. Knowing these are all nice, would anyone have strong opinions? For people who may have stayed there, which do they think is the best?
Thanks in advance!

I'm a definite Four Seasons/Bangkok fan. You can pull up my thread on Conde Nast's Traveler Magizine 2004 list. Yes, I had a typo in the word "magazine" under my original thread. So spell it "magizine" in order to pull it up. The debates and arguments were strong as to what hotels we all prefer. We are very passionate about hotels in Bangkok. Folks might be a bit exhausted with this topic. The Sukothai is beautiful, but the location a bit odd. I've seen many rooms there. Many love the Oriental plus it's on the river which many in this forum love. I'm personally not a river person. I have been inside the Oriental, but have not seen the rooms. As for the Conrad and Banyan Tree...haven't done those two yet.Happy Travels!

Just saw the long post on Conde Nast-- thanks! Thinking I cannot go too wrong with the four seasons...

the conrad is the newest of the hotels and is well located....the 4 seasons and oriental are top hotels,,,,and the most expensive generally....suk is charming but i do not like the location too much...slightly out of the way....its nice to be on the river so the oriental would be a plus....

If all those choices are the same price, opt for the Oriental. It's on the river, and it's the grand dame of Bangkok hotels.

Definitely the Oriental for its location, service, history, class and warmth.

If being on the river is important to you then the Oriental. Else the Four Seasons. A word about the Sukhothai - while I love the decor and restaurants I found the rooms disappointing when I stayed there. Location is also a drawback IMO.
