I tried to email isismonroe about this date, but my email came back. If anyone sees isis and/or Russ, give them a heads up. And ask her to send me an updated email address...
Carol
Isis, if you're out there, my email came back...

carol,
The Ohana Beachcomber is in the heart of Waikiki on Kalakaua next to the Int'e Market Place. Rooms are the same at both locations.....I guess you could say that the Beachcomber is a better hotel because of its location.
Ask for a upper level room so you can get an ocean view in the Beachcomber.
Either one is a good choice actually.
This hotel I list below is just outside of Waikiki proper(5 minute walk from the zoo) but right on the beach and priced like an off beach property. Love the Hau Tree Lanai for breakfasts.

Thanks for the link to your HNL hotel suggestion. Much appreciated.
HT
I looked at your suggestion also. Very nice! Thanks for the link.
But, I think I will book the Beachcomber. I do like being close to the beach (even though I'm not a beach person, per se) and I like being close to the Int'l market place and all the other shopping/dining locations.
United has a really good price on a flight/hotel package at the Beachcomber. I checked the hotel's own rates and they seemed about $20 higher per night! Travelocity was also higher than UA, so I think I've pretty much made up my mind to the UA Escape package (no car).
Thanks everyone.

So, kathie, Carol, guenmai, k-suke, HT, doing the conga down Kalakaua Ave... This will be something to see!
I'm coming, but only if I can get really cheap tickets! Put me down as a 1, maybe two for dinner on Saturday! My husband is beginning to wonder about you all.
We have done Thai and korean meals at our last two larger GTGs. Whats it going to be this time? Japanese? Vietnamese? (I got hooked on the food of Vietnam...you'll eventually see my trip report which will explain the extra 10 lbs I gained...;-) )
And Mels..I'm sorry I missed today...I am madly trying to catch up from the trip and trying to get ready to leave again on thurs for a wedding in San Diego. I might be able to meet Wed eve...got to go re-read the details.you ARE Ms GTG of Hawaii, so we EXPECT you there! And Mari and I think you should come to Asia on the next trip she plans...This one was a WINNER!!

Tell me about Vietnamese food. What am I missing? We ate at one of the fave places in BKK and were not at all impressed. We had a Thai friend with us to help with ordering. I have strange food allergies so have to be very careful about eating "new" things. I'll dine where ever the GTG crowd wants to go, but I may stop by Mc's for an Asian salad afterwards... lol...
This dancing down Kalakua Ave sounds like it just might compete with guenmai's GTG...
Lucy, please try to come! We've never really had a chance to talk much, yet.
