Hongkong - airport to hotel
hello,
guess this question was asked already several times - but anyway, maybe there is some advised there for me. All in all - what would be cheaper?? For 4 people with probably a big suitcase (for a 3 weeks vacation)each the travel from the Airport to our hotel - the New World Renaissance Hotel - with the taxi - or to take first the Airport Express and then a taxi to the hotel??? Thx a million.. |
The single trip of airport express from airport to Kowloon Station costs you around $90 HKD per head . And your hotel (NW Renaissance) got free shuttle bus to Kowloon Station. 4 people cost HK$360 (around $45 USD). It will be the cheaper way to go.
Taxi from airport to your hotel should cost around HK$400-500, depends on whether it gets trafic jam or not. I havn't done that before, so maybe I can check with my friend and tell you later. :) |
4 adult with 4 large suitcases will not fit a taxi. Taxi fare from Airport to New World Renaissance is about $300 each taxi. So, budget $600 or slightly more for 2 taxis. Traffic usually isn't a problem.
4 people can buy group Airport Express tickets for $220 total to the Kowloon station. Each taxi from Kowloon AE station to the hotel should be no more than $30-40 each. So, total with 2 cabs are about HK$300. [Alternatives are hotel shuttles - $120 per person - and Cityflyer bus - $33 per person.] |
Thx for the information.
chicachina - does the hotel (NW Rn.) also a pickup on the way from the airport to the hotel through the free shuttle bus? thx |

http://www.mtr.com.hk/eng/train/ae_compli_e.htm The K4 (every 24 minutes) have a stop at the NW Renaissance. [And the K2's stop at the Sheraton/KCR East TST station is just across the Salisbury Road. You need to take a underground tunnel to cross the street right now, but the K2 is every 12 minutes.] |
Silvia, our travel agent (in Australia) organised transfers for us both in Singapore and Hong Kong through a company called Tour East Ltd. We found them to be extremely courteous, helpful and punctual. Their vehicles were always immaculate. We were four people travelling with a suitcase and a carry on each and this was no problem. Their details are Tour East Ltd Suites 805-806 8th Flr World Finance Centre Sth Tower Hbr City Canton Road Kowloon Tel 852 2366 3111. I'm not sure if they are on the web but perhaps your travel agent may be aware of this company. Another bonus is that it is always great to be able to pay for all these things before you leave.

Silvia-if I were you, I'd opt for the Airport Express train and then the taxi-I just did this, and couldn't believe how easy it was-even at midnight when we got in.
I don't think it's been mentioned here that the entrance to the AE train is right there in the arrivals area, just past the information desks-you don't have to go down to a lower level and then walk somewhere or anything like that. But the best thing I found was that there are porters waiting to take your heavy bags and put them on the train for you! It's a very nice service and I was totally not expecting that. Once we pulled into TST, the taxis were right there, and it was 5 min. to the hotel. Dead easy. You could go the taxi route of course, but I daresay it could not be any easier than using the AE train, and the train is a heck of a lot cheaper. |
silvia1808: Do you speak Chinese? If you do, I have a van service dispatcher that you might want to use from HK Airport to your hotel. They only charge HKD$180, doesn't matter how many suitcase and maximum of 5 people. I use them on my recent return from Hong Kong.
