Hong Kong Winter Weather

Jump to last reply

My husband and I are moving to Hong Kong next week for 6 months for his work. I'm hoping to not bring too much with us, but I tend to always over pack and our apartment there will be small so I thought maybe someone on here could give me some guidance. Looking at the high/low temperature averages on weatherbase.com, and having grown up in Michigan I'm pretty used to the cold, so I am leaning toward not bringing many sweaters - or at least not many heavier knit ones. I know everyone's cold tolerances vary, but can anyone advise me on how often a heavier sweater is needed during the winter months? Or is a lighter sweater (like cotton cardigan) and leather jacket with light scarf and jeans usually sufficient through the winter? Although we plan on traveling some while we're living there, we anticipate visiting mostly warm-weather places (Thailand, Vietnam, Bali) and can hopefully just wear lots of layers if we go to Beijing when it's very cold.

Thanks in advance!
Lauren
