Hong Kong Walk - Central & Western

Keen to know if anyone has done the Cental & Western District walk detailed on DiscoverHongKong website. We have limited time in HK with 4-5 hours spare from airport and back to airport. Is this enough time without rushing. Appreciate any commrents. Other alternatives?

Have you been to Hong Kong before? And what area have you already visited?

The walk itself isn't that long. Just depends on how much stopping along the way you want to do.

Hi rkkwan. First trip to HK. We have one day stopover [8.00am - 11.30pm less check in time] on way home from Europe to Aust. Thought we may do a tour starting around 10.00am to Lantau and Monastery which takes around 5hrs. Would like to spend a little time looking around HK as a contrast. Your thoughts appreciated.

Yeah, I think that should work.

Take the S1 bus from airport to Tung Chung MTR. If the cable car has opened - its opening has been delayed - take it to Po Lin Monastery. If not, take the bus. Then take bus #2 (~40 min) to Mui Wo, and take a slow ferry (1 hour) back to Central. [More to see on the slow ferry, and you can move around.]

Then yes, you can do the Central and Western walk. The start point at the Western market is not far from the ferry pier. After the walk, you should still take the Star Ferry across back to Kowloon and look at the lights from the Avenue of the Stars at the promenade.

[If you finish walk early, then take the Peak Tram up to the Peak and down, before crossing the harbor.]

Take the free shuttle from one of the major hotels in Tsimshatsui to the Airport Express station and then take the train back to the airport. With like 15 hours total, you can do it all.

Thanks for the great info. I will get the map out so I can find my bearings. It is good to get first hand feed back when you are a bit of a novice. Thanks again.
