Hong Kong/Thailand 14 days

Hello, My 33 yr. old daughter and I will be traveling to Hong Kong and Thailand the first two weeks of February. It will be her first trip to Hong Kong and our first trip to Thailand. I would appreciate all comments and suggestions for itineraries, transportation, tours, hotels, beaches etc.
We will be in Hong Kong three full days two nights then fly to Bangkok and travel northwest for two nights. Back to Bangkok for two nights then to the Phuket area for 6-8 nights. We are noth adventuresome love the beaches water sports and hiking treks. We are looking forward to hearing lots of comments and suggestions from y'all.

get a good general travel guide like fodors or frommers (I often prefer frommers for its broad strokes).

HK is easy...with only 3 days I would go to the peak on a clear day via the tram... I would ride to the mid-levels on the escalator (watch your up and down timing)... take a junk tour from central to Stanley and return on the bus, or visa versa..

shop Kowloon...

go to the top of the bank of china building--clear day.

walk hollywood rd area.

eat as much dim sum as you can possibly eat...

BKK----stay on the river in bkk: chatrium riverside is a good affordable offering... I love the anantara riverside.

stay in bkk for 4 days, at the beginning and at the end..

ship the NW...

hire a private tour guide like tong (tours with tong) or rat.

see the grand palace, wat arun, reclining Buddha, take boat rides on the river...

too little time to go to the floating mkt or other outside bkk places..

Phuket? it's a big place---much of it is simply horrible, over-run and sex orientated.

I much prefer khao lak, 1 hour north by taxi from Phuket airport... the jw Marriott there is fabulous.

Thank you very much for your very helpful info. We will be at the intercontinental in Hong Kong and royal orchid sheraton in bkk. And I love your sightseeing suggestions. Would you recommend the RiverKwai Resortal for a 2 night stay?
My daughter needs some beach action on this trip and was wanting to stay in a beach bungalow . Any thoughts on that ? Is it easy to find taxis to Khao lak and what would the cost be? Thanks again for your suggestions.

There may be NO clear days in HK. Fingers crossed for you...but it is a great place in any case. We couldn't see far from The Peak and enjoyed it anyway.
