Hong Kong / Mainland Visa Question

I may have to go to Hong Kong and mainland China for work this summer and had a question about the visa process. I think I will need a multiple entry visa, but my question is, I'm going to the mainland from Hong Kong once for work and then back to Hong Kong. After I finish up my business in Hong Kong, I would then would like to go back a few days later, on the weekend, to the mainland (possibly flying to Beijing) for tourist purposes. Will it be a problem to visit the mainland a second time, for tourism purposes, if I just have a work visa, if I have a multiple entry visa?

Also, do you need a visa to go from Hong Kong to Macao?

Thanks!

You don't mention your nationality which can make a difference.

For Americans, no visa HKG - Macau.

Rather than confuse the issue, I'd likely get 1 multi-entry visa for work and use it for all your trips. But then I have no experience with a work visa so best to consult someone who does.

I'd have a good visa expeditor work with you on this. If in the US, I've used VisaHQ and find them very professional and helpful.

How long are you going to be there? I can ask my daughter who is a US citizen but has been working in China outside of HK. I know she goes to HK for shopping, to get her hair done, etc. This is her 3rd yr. in China. I'm pretty sure she had a work visa to start because I remember her saying something about not being able to go nto HK for a while until ? but I don't recall what she had to do or get.

I'm assuming you"re US from the tag Bostonblondie.

I am a US Citizen. I guess my question boils down to whether or not it will be a problem to re-enter the mainland in Beijing if I'm just going there for tourism, having visited the mainland earlier in the week for business.

No. All anyone cares about is that you have a valid visa when you enter, be it a multiple entry visa or an unused single entry visa of any kind.
