rkkwan - Why would so many tourists stay in the Icon then?!

We are a very active couple, taking a walk to view attractions/sights is not a problem for us. Taxis are very cheap if you would rather not walk!

Because it costs less than the better-located hotels?

rkkwan's contention about location is spot on: many, many other other hotels in Hong Kong have better locations -- closer to MTR stations, closer to the Star Ferry, better harbour views, etc. Which is a primary reason that the Icon costs less.

That isn't at all to say that the Icon is in a bad location -- it isn't. But most tourists would find that a hotel like the Sheraton or the Salisbury Y or a Pacific Place hotel or the Holiday Inn Express in Causeway Bay is a more convenient to restaurants, shopping, and the MTR. HK is a great place to walk around when the weather is pleasant and dry, but a lot less so when it's hot. humid, and about to rain in torrents.
