HONG KONG HOTELS?

Honk Kong hotel recommendation pls

I will be traveling to bali via hong kong in a few weeks. My plan is to stay a couple nts in HK either on my way there or on my return. I would like a deluxe hotel but those seem to be in the $600 range.

Can you recommend a dlx propery that is a bit less expensive? I've never been to HK before and am not sure Re what location I want. I want proximity to good restaurants, shopping and hopefully someplace with a view of the harbor.
Thanks.

Prices can change day to day, but for 10/29-31, if you spend a little more than $400, you can get these top hotels with harborview:

Kowloon Shangri-La in Tsimshatsui East
Conrad in Central

Both about $425+13% tax and service charge.

If you have to stay under $400, you can get a top hotel without view, like at the Kowloon Shangri-La; or you can get harborview at lessor hotels, like the Park Lane and Excelsior in Causeway Bay.

Or have a "different" view at a top hotel. The Langham Place in Mongkok has panoramic view of the Kowloon Peninsula, but it's in a very downscale area near the Ladies' Market and not by the harbor.

nyc, we're talking US$, right? For US$400 you'll have plenty of very good choices. I think you can do all right at the Intercon for that price. Not sure of the availability of view in the US$400 range but the whole hotel is right on the water so views abound in all the public spaces.

My favorite hotel is the Ritz-Carlton, which I understand will be "redeveloped" soon, so I hope it's still there! It's on the Hong Kong side so the view isn't as spectactular as the Intercon (for view you want to look at Hong Kong from Kowloon), but it's elegant and right in the middle of central.

A very good value is the Marco Polo Hong KOng Hotel. A little run down, a little touristy but excellent location right across from the Star Ferry and good views for half your budget. Save the rest and buy a watch. :)

marmot - Economy is good, and late October is during the Canton Fair. You can't get a harborview room at the IC for $400.
