Hong Kong Cool Hotels

We will be in Hong Kong for the first time for two nights in April.

We are from New York and would love to stay in a Phillipe Starck type hotel or something akin to the Chelsea Hotel in Manhattan. Something arty or design-centric.

We'd be grateful for any thoughts you'd care to share.

Thanks.

Nina

Hi Nina, there are no real design hotels in hong kong like the Hudson in NY or the Delano in Miami. But if you love Phillip Starck, you have to visit the Restaurant Felix at the Peninsula Hotel. The Hotel itself is a brilliant mixture between old charm colonianism and modern facilities. Felix is designed by Starck! Rooms at the Pen are very expensive.
A good choice for design freaks is also the Grand Hyatt with its Art deco Lobby and cool styled rooms!! Both Hotels are 5 star properties!

Nina: I recommend to relax at The Regent lobby for a drink in the late afternoon while watching the sun go down! Breathtaking!

Nina,

I have been planning a trip to Hong Kong for May and like you I am from NY and like all of those "hip hotels" From the research I have done the Regent or the Pennisula is definately the way to go. The Regent is bigger and newer, but the Penninsula is where I am going to stay. Have a great trip!

Shangri-La hotel on the Hong Kong Island is good too. (not the one on the Kowloon side) The rooms are quite big and have really amazing view.
