Normally prices drop in September, but this APEC event has distorted rates all over Bali and Lombok. You can certainly find places at around $US100 in Bali, Lombok and the Gilis, but the quality of experience (charm factor) is variable and they're a little harder to uncover. Once you've fixed your itinerary you just have to go through accommodation options one by one until you find the right combination of location + ambiance.
Another place that my friends like (I haven't been there myself) is the Blue Moon Villas in Amed. Black sand beaches, but good scuba/snorkling in the area. I also recommend the Haven in Seminyak. It's in a densely populated area, but it's quite stylish. The good news is that the Rupiah is quite weak right now so your dollar goes farther. |
Due to APEC it looks as if Bali airport will be closed most of October 6 and parts of October 8 & 9. The details are a bit vague, but I would avoid air travel these dates.

For dimsum in HKG, I have these bookmarked:
http://www.hkepicurus.com/search/label/Dim%20Sum http://www.openrice.com/english/rest...tm?shopid=1799 I go to holes in the wall too. After you eat in those restaurants, you cannot have dimsum in Chinatown again. You can have clothes made in Bali, I know people have done that. You have to bring a sample for the tailor to follow and don't expect too much. You can go to Trip advisor forum to ask for recommendation. |
