Hong by Starlight- Anyone done this?

Has anyone gone on this Kayak tour? Comments- good or should we skip?

Kathie May 18th, 2007 06:52 AM

Heymo, if you type Hong by Starlight into the little search box at the top of this page you'll get many, many posts that mention it.

Thanks, Kathie- I should have thought of that. I usually do look on there and if I can't see the specific point I need to ask about I add a question. All I can say is it's Friday and it's been a long week!

Hi heymo, There are dozens of recommendations for the hongs by starlight on tripadvisor.com, just go to the phuket forum and do a search. Sue

Thanks Sue. I saw this on another site, and since we're trying to make a decision this weekend between Khao Lak and Phuket, I wanted to see if this might put us more in the Phuket category. It sounds like a lot of fun!
My husband wants to spend every day of the 4 days we're in the area scuba diving, and I'd like to at least see some of the other sights (Phang Nga Bay, etc.)

We've done it and it's great. I did a trip report. http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34734627 We stayed in Khao Lak and they picked us up there...it makes no difference whether you stay in Khao Lak or Phuket for John Gray.

Gpanda May 18th, 2007 04:05 PM

Kim's correct. You will get picked up at your hotel regarless of whether it's Phuket of Khao Lak.

My husband and I did this trip in March last year and really enjoyed it. Plus, I appreciated how much the John Gray company makes an effort to be environmentally friendly and aware.
If you want to see my pictures from that day, it's on my website:

Thanks Kristina, your pictures are really nice!

The hotel you stayed in- what location was that?

Kristina May 22nd, 2007 05:44 AM

Hi-
The Andaman White Beach resort is near the village of Nai Thon, about 15 min south of the airport.
It's very isolated and there's not much within walking distance so you're pretty much stuck there unless you take taxis which were surprisingly expensive. We ended up eating every meal there and fortunately, the food at the hotel was excellent.
