Honeymoon - Phuket / Kho Lak - Hotel Advice?

Hi All, We are heading on Honeymoon February 2016 to the Phuket/ Kho Lak area of Thailand. We are getting a little confused with all of the hotel options and were wondering if anyone had any recommendations/ advice? We love spots that have some atmosphere & life (i.e. dining options, chilled bars for sunset etc.), & a nice scenic clean beach while not being overly touristy/ built-up. Not a small ask we know!
We were considering splitting our stay between Ayara Hilltops in Phuket and JW Marriott in Koh Lak but are unsure if these are the best option for us.
We are open to other destinations that are accessible from Phuket also - so we would love to hear your recommendations?
Many thanks,
Emma

Yes Six Senses very expensive....we stayed at Paradise and I would recommend it, especially the pool villas. Twinpalms is really nice as well but you have to cross the road and walk to the beach but there are a few shops and restaurants within easy walking distance.

JW for sure.... If you like quiet beautiful clean beachs. The property back up to a
Turtle reserve or national park.
I've been 4 times now and will go back next year.

There are two JW Marriots. One in Phuket just north off the airport..it backs up to the turtle reserve. The other is in Khao Lak about an hour north of the airport. It is very quiet, but HUGE lagoon pools as well as a very nice beach.

If the OP is wanting to be able to walk to bars and shopping and a variety of restaurant options then Mom Tri's Villa Royale is better located than either of the JWs...and I am familiar with all three. The JWs are beautiful properties if you have a car to get around.

The KataThani is also a familiar property, and it is another good choice with food/bars/shopping that are not far away.
