The Regent is a great hotel and I would think it perfect for a honeymoon; provided that you can afford it.

The downside is that it is a long way from Chiangmai and unless you hire a self drive car the only transport available to you would be the hotel cars.
i gotta agree with the previous poster. i thought regent chiang mai absolutely superb. can't say anything about the oberoi. i remember there was a fabulous place in ubud -- used to be a banyan tree resort, but got taken over by another group. can't remember the name though...

Randy,

My wife and I had our engagement party at the Ritz in Bali and loved it. The staff and service were great, the hotel is beautiful, rooms are large and comfortable, and the food is good. It really provides good value for money. If you can splurge a bit, the villas are really great.

However, if a beach is very important, I would go elsewhere, as the beaches at Jimbaran Bay (where Ritz, Four Seasons, Intercon are) are not that beautiful.

Also, if you prefer a more intimate place, then consider the Four Seasons (Jimbaran or Sayan)or Pansea Bali, for example. While the Ritz has over 200 rooms, it still manages to retain the Ritz feel of exclusivity. Nonetheless for a honeymoon you may prefer a boutique hotel for more privacey and exclusivity, less kids, etc..

There are many choices in Bali; where to stay depends on the location, environment and ambience you want, and of course the budget.

Congrats and enjoy your honeymoon - you chose your destinations well; Thailand and Bali are two of our favorites!

Jeff

My fiance and I have chosen to stay at the Ritz and the Four Seasons in Sayan for our honeymoon in June. Will let you know how it goes. I have heard that the Four Seasons in Sayan is incredible.
