Since you'll probably have to go through Singapore to get to Bali, I'd spend three full days in Singapore on your way home and I'd put the splurge money on the Ritz Carlton Singapore only if you can get a marina view. The Ritz Carlton Singapore is not outrageously priced. The luxury hotels on Bali are. If you fly on Singapore Air, they usually have all types of great hotel deals in connection with their flights, plus you'll be on the #1 voted airline in the world. One of the most romantic places I've ever stayed is Tegal Sari in Ubud. The rooms vary in price and amenities, but range between $40 and $80. They all over look the rice fields and Monkey Forest. The place has a nice swimming pool, great breakfast and offer tranquility and a sense of real life in Bali. They used to run a regular shuttle into town and would also take you to any of the great restaurants in town after dark and pick you up when called. Trust me on this one!!!
