Hokkaido, Japan in summer 2019
 

My wife and I are going to Hokkaido, Japan in mid July to see the lavender fields, Sapporo, and other must do destinations. We have 4 days and 5 nights. We will be flying into Chitose airport in the evening from Tokyo.
1. I would appreciate ideas of an itinerary for 4 days in Hokkaido.
2. Should we rent a car and drive around or take JR rail/Hokkaido rail pass.
3. Which are the main destinations we should do for the 4 days we have.
4. Do we find accommodation at the hotels or find Airbnb.
