HK left luggage
Hi,
Does anyone recall seeing a left luggage facility (either coin locker or manned) of some sort at Airport Express stations in Hong Kong or in Kowloon? I know there is such a facility at the airport, but would like to find out a place to store a piece of luggage. Since I'm touching down only for half a day, hotel is not an option. Thanks in advance for any tip |

I disagree wholeheartedly. In many a 1/2 day trip into HK, I've left my bags with the bell captain at the Sheraton. It's very simple - one just walks up, says that they'd like to store the bag and will be back later to check in. Later, one asks for the return of the bag. A tip is a nice thing to consider as well. This is simpler, easier, and more convenient than having to deal with left luggage at HKG. I'm certain it would work at ANY hotel near where you plan to spend your 1/2 day. Best, Dave |
To answer the original question. Yes, there's both manned and coined storage facility at HKG. The manned counter is in the arrivals hall, basically right in the middle of the row of stores.
The coined facility is new and it's in the walkway between the T1 and T2 building. After you go exit customs, just follow the signs for Terminal 2. You'll see it halfway through the "tunnel". |
I don't understand Dave's post. How is taking the luggage from airport to the city and find a hotel better than leaving it right at the airport?

You misunderstood my post b/c you didn't read the OP carefully enough.
W9London is AWARE of the luggage storage that you correctly mention at HKG. HOWEVER, he specifically mentions this in his/her post: "I know there is such a facility at the airport, but would like to find out a place to store a piece of luggage." Furthermore, the poster asks for locations for left luggage at Central or Kowloon. That's why I offered my advice vis a vis hotel storage. Your advice, accurate as it is, does not address the question. Sorry, Dave |
Dave - You're correct. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

No worries!! :-D. That luggage area at HKG is just a PITA when there's any line there - just so slow!!

Thanks for both Dave and rkkwan. I think the hotel solution would be the best--I never thought of that as I thought most hotels would only take guests' items. I won't be able to leave the suitcase at the airport as I need to carry rather bulky merchandise samples this time...
Subsequently, someone told me that there are airport-style manned left luggage service at Airport Express HK station. I might try that one. |
