Hilton or Starwood HongKong hotels?

We'll be spending one night in Hong Kong on our way to Thailand. We plan on doing touristy things and need a hotel convenient to activities and the airport. I thought I might be able to use Hilton or Starwood points. Any opinions regarding the following?:

Westin Resort Macau
Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel and Towers
Four Points Shenzhen
Conrad Hong Kong
Hilton Shenzhen

I'm guessing the Sheraton HK on Nathan Road might be the best choice. If we're better off spending actual money to stay somewhere else, please say so!

Thanks!

Forget about Macau or Shenzhen. It's totally impratical, if not impossible.

Between the Sheraton and the Conrad, the Sheraton is in the Tsimshatsui area with lots of shops, restaurants, quick access to the harbor promenade and Star Ferry. Its location can be beat. But it's a 4* hotel, built in the 70's.

The Conrad is a true 5* hotel, built in the mid-90's, on top of an upscale mall. In terms of room and service, it's clearly superior to the Sheraton. It's also connected to the MTR station, so it's still pretty convenient.

You can get to either hotel by taking the Airport Express train, connecting to either a free shuttle or a short taxi ride.

So, if you think you'll want to wander out a bit, get the Sheraton (ask for a harborview room). If you just want to get the best hotel room, Conrad.

Thank you! I reserved two rooms at the Conrad. Why not go for the best? It's not real money - only points. :)

If anyone thinks this is not the best location, please let me know!

I just stayed at the Sheraton, and think it is far nicer than the Conrad. They finished a total refurbishment at the hotel, so everything is like new. The bathrooms are totally amazing, and the whole hotel has so much character than the typical corporate city-centre Conrad hotel. I prefer the location on Nathan Road for shopping & eating, and it is just up the road from the Star ferries and is above a MTR station.
It is a full 5* hotel, and I actually prefer the service there to the Conrad where I have stayed on business a few times.

Enjoy HK!

Go to flyertalk.com and do a search in the Hilton and Starwood forums. You should be able to find out a lot of info on each hotel you are interested in. The only hotel I've stayed at in HK was the Grand Hyatt (on points) and loved it.

For shopping and walking around, Sheraton is better.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised by the variety of opinions. LOL! I did go to flyer talk (one of my favorite sites) and researched a bit more.

In the end, I think I will stick with the Conrad in Hong Kong. I will use my Starwood points for the Sheraton Royal Orchid in Bangkok. I only have a limited number of Starwood points since I transferred most of them to AA for my 4 business class tickets.

Frequent flyer and hotel points sure help my vacation budget! :)

Thanks everyone.
