High speed train from Xi'an to Datong
 

Hy everyone!

I've read that by 2015 it would be completed the construction of the high speed train line that connects Xi'an to Datong.

I've been searching for information but cannot find any.
Does anybody know anything about this?

The opening date for the Taiyuan-Datong portion has not been announced. In China, until that's announced, all is speculation.

Right now, you can get from Xian to Taiyuan South by high-speed rail in as little as 3 hours, though most take about 3:35. Than, another 4.5 hour from Taiyuan South to Datong by conventional train.

Plans are often announced but only when they are actually starting to sell tickets can you know for sure the date when it starts operating.
No news on this line yet.

Thnaks! I think I´ll just wait a couple of months and the buy an airpline ticket if nothing happens until then. I travel only in October.

I am travelling to China the end of the next month and will be there for several weeks. My plan is:

I am undecided to weather to get a train from Beijing to Datong or a flight?

Any suggestions would be great ??
Also anyone with experience travelling by train would be great to hear regarding how easy this is?
