High end craft shops in Chiang Mai

I will be in Chiang Mai in mid-November and want to spend part of a day shopping for high end crafts. Could you recommend any specific shops that have unusual items indigenous to the area? I'm partial to silks, but would like to visit any places that have things I can take home fairly easily. I've read about Sankampaeng Road, but would like to have some specific shops to target rather than wander around aimlessly.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

I visit Chiang Mai quite often and I like the Nimmanhaemin Road area more for high end craft shops. The area around Soi 1 to about Soi 10 have many shops and gallery and I think you will find what you're looking for there.

Hanuman, a belated thank you for your suggestion to go to Nimmanhaemin Road. We did go there, and especially liked Soi 1 (and spent too much money there too).

Crossroads Asia in Hang Dong.

Have bought some really beautiful (and appropriately reasonably priced) items from them twice.

no, not cheap, actually. high-end goods aren't cheap, full stop. but cheap comparatively for what you'd pay for them anywhere else...especially here in the US.
