Bob - can you upload them to youtube? Don't have a microsoft account or a microsoft base email address.

KimJapan Nov 6th, 2013 12:47 AM

Can't see them :(
YouTube idea is good. I think they can go to YouTube right from iPad...I think.

progol Nov 6th, 2013 02:33 AM

rhkkmk-

When I click on your link it takes me to my husband's hot mail e-mail account!!! LOL!!!!! Must be because the hot mail is a microsoft related account??

And I know he's no bullet train. OMG laughing so hard!

Smeagol Nov 7th, 2013 07:36 AM

Bob - did you sort the Pedi cab in Arishiyama on the day or was it arranged before?

will try and check out your vids later.

Craig Nov 7th, 2013 08:02 AM

Nicky, you can hire a jinrikisha on the spot at Arashiyama. However, if you want to hire a driver that speaks English, you would have to prearrange. We did not find it necessary to hire one at all. Have your taxi driver drop you off at Nembutsyji Temple and then walk down from there. There are a couple of really nice upscale shops near the temple, by the way but most of the stuff you'll want to do is near the train station - bamboo forest, Tenryu-ji temple(beautiful gardens) and of course, the "romantic" train ride...

Pook, hahahaha!

Smeagol Nov 7th, 2013 12:13 PM

LOL Pook......

Smeagol Nov 7th, 2013 12:14 PM

Craig, did you get the cab from Kyoto ? Am confused, I had planned to take the train and thought I could just get off and walk?

Craig Nov 8th, 2013 01:42 AM

Nicky, we took a cab. It was about US$40 and got us there from the Hyatt in about 45 minutes. Note that technically Arashiyama is in eastern Kyoto. You could easily take a taxi to the Kyoto station, take the JR train to the Saga Arashiyama station and walk. Or instead of walking, you could hop on the Romantic train at the Torroko Saga station right next to the JR station, take it out to Kameoka and return to the Torroko Arashiyama station, which is right in the center of things. The round trip on the Romantic train takes about an hour and should be booked early in the day, if you want to do it. Look at the map on this page: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3912.html
It should clarify things a bit as all these train stations can be confusing. We did take the JR train FROM Arashiyama and hooked up with the subway to get to central Kyoto...

Smeagol Nov 8th, 2013 10:15 AM

Craig many thanks, I really am finding ALL those stations and lines very confusing. thank goodness for Billy, he has sorted most of the schedule out :)

kmkrnn Nov 9th, 2013 07:09 PM

We took taxi too but for about $30... We just walked around town.. Took boat ride too. Did not go into hills.

Taxi back as well... Easiest.
