Help With Thai Air JFK Flight Cancelation
 

Hi,
I only now just found out about the JFK-BKK flights being canceled post July 1. All day i have tried calling Thai Air as we are booked in premium economy in August.
Does anyone have any suggestions. Have tried the NY office and LA office and the 800 number. I dont know what to do. I was never notified. Have people had luck being rebooked? do I just lose my money for premium economy or even worse do I just need to find my own new flight?
any help would be greatly appreciated. I dont understand how they cant even answer their phone for people on hold over 2 hours.

Hang in there and persist. I'm sure its a logistical nightmare for them.

I'm sure they are swamped with calls. You will get a full refund of what you paid. They will likely offer you an alternative routing.

Thanks, we finally got ahold of the Thai Airways office in Bangkok only to be told that they cant do anything only the LA office can. They said they are no longer accomodating people over the phone "because they are too angry" so you must email their LA office to take care of it. i also asked if I could go to the NY office inperson and she said she didnt know she thought they were closing.

Aren't you able to just go into the N.Y. office in person? I go into the L.A. office often and they're great. Very helpful.
You will be on hold a long time if you call the L.A. office and especially now that it's June.
We have the largest population, in the world, of Thais living outside of Thailand and the planes are full a lot. So, I can imagine that the phone is ringing off the hook right about now as they travel back and forth a lot along with those of us who aren't Thai.
My Thai friends are constantly on the plane. Plus, school is out and Thai friends take off to go back to Thailand, with their kids now. Happy Travels!

Guenmai has a good idea. Try to get to the Thai Air office in NYC. "May be closing" is very different from "already closed." You should be able to find their phone number on the internet. They are located in the Lincoln Building, right across from Grand Central, on 42d street. I've been there before and the office was actually very helpful. Good luck.

By the way, I'll have the same problem on my Dec/Jan flight. I bought Premium Economy on that one.

This Friday, I'll have to fly out of state,and won't be back until Monday. But,when I get back, I'll try to drive down to Thai Air to see what's going on. It's about a 45 minute drive, down the freeway, from me.
I'll go on a week day when it's usually empty. If I can get the time to drive there, then I'll report back. I just hope they don't go changing the dates of my ticket. I can't change the dates since I work and will be on a tight schedule. Happy Travels!

after they arrange your flights, then give them a piece of your mind...and don't be nice....it is all one company and they should have assisted you via the telephone...that bkk office is very bureauocratic however...

So my fiancee went down today in NYC. On the flight out they gave us the ANA flight to Tokoyo and then on to BKK with Thai Air and on the return we come back via LAX on Thai Air connecting to United. so on the 2 "shorter" flight we are in economy. On the BKK to LAX flight we are def on Premium Economy and they claim we are on economy from JFK to Tokoyo but I dont think we are. It says "Y" class economy which is in essence economy. we tried arguing with them but they didnt seem to care and said they would be shutting down any day the NYC office.

You're lucky! Our trip was July 7, returning August 14 on the Thai air JFK to BKK and they told us they weren't reaccommodating folks, only refunding. So I have since booked flights on ANA via Tokyo--14 hours to Tokyo and then 7 to BKK all in economy :(

The BIG headache with having to go through Japan, from LAX, is that the LAX-Japan flights fill up VERY quickly and especally in December when I take my 3-week Thai vacation.

And if one can't get a flight to Japan, then one can't get to Bangkok. I went through this for years before the non-stops to BK were introduced.
Now of course there are other routes, to get to BK, but anytime one has to use 2 planes to get to BK, then there could be a major problem. Happy Travels!

We have had good luck with EVA thru Taipai from LAX. No problem for the last 4 trips with delays. We book the Evergreen Deluxe seats.

I'm glad I was saving my United miles to get a business class seat on Thai from JFK to BKK! I guess now I'll use the miles to upgrade an econ seat, starting with my flight to Sydney. At least I'll be able to accumulate miles this way. I've heard that United business is not as good as Thai though, which was why I was saving up.
