Help with name of restaurant in Bangkok
 

Just befleft NYC there was a post about a restaurant in BKK with a tasting menu. I hought I would take my hosts there, but don't know where I saved it.

What type of food are you interested in NYW? Most of the top restaurants have tasting menu.

This was specifically mentioned on the Forum. Don't remember if it was Brad or Michael who wrote about it. I think it was a post about really fine dining in BKK. Of course my brain is like a sieve.

Bo Lan was mentioned here recently. That's the only one that comes to mind.

I think Carol also mentioned that Brad had suggested a French restaurant. I think its "Indigo" or something like that?

Nope but my brother ate there last week. He said the food was pretty good but too expensive and the cooking time was too long. Apparently, in keeping with the restaurant's philosophy, everything must be freshly made including all the curry paste and other ingredients. Took over 45 minutes for the first dish to appear! Reserve early as it's quite popular at the moment.

I think it is Bo Lan. Thanks everyone, my hostess wants to go to Baa Khanitha. The decision has been made, and is now out of my hands.

Hanuman - Really? it was on my list to do in Dec, does your brother think its worth a visit?? and how early is early should i be reserving now for a Dec res?
I am looking for somewhere with a great atmosphere, lovely setting and great Thai food or course (i am NOT mentioning the authentic word....)

It's relatively new and therefor is quite full at the moment. People are trying it out but those that have tried it says the food take too long as the chef insist on using to mortar to grind everything from scratch. Food wise they, including my brother, have said that the food was good but the taste was not exceptional. Atmosphere wise it should be nice but I didn't really ask about that aspect.

Will try and pop in for lunch one day!

Let us know what you think. If it's really good, I'm willing to put up with slow...

Any takes on "Seafood Palace"? I have been told it had seafood to die for.

Hanuman- How much did your brother like the food?

Wow a lot of interest in Bo Lan. I have asked my brother and some other friends who ate there and they all said the food was good with very Western presentation and price. I cannot really comment more unless I've eaten there.

Oh, btw, Bo-Lan was discussed in the Thai Airways Sawasdee magazine. Could not tell if it was "westernized," mang, but they have an 11 course dinner for something like 1500 baht?? I hope we get to try it.
