Help with Mekong Delta touring

I will be in Ho Chi Minh City in mid December. I would like to spend 2-4 days touring the Mekong Delta. I need help formulating an itinerary. Are there tours or guides that might make sense or is going on my own reasonable.
Thanks

Gaby - you'd best taking a small guided tour, if it's your first time in Vietnam it would be tricky around Mekong Delta. Bridges aren't always there - you must be prepared for very crowded ferry crossings and don't even think of driving yourself. We just booked a tour after arriving in HCMC with "Go Viet Nam", it was as cheap as chips - accommodation basic but quite adequate. It will probably be cooler in December than when we were there in April, but wear sunscreen, sitting in open boats for hours can give you a massive sunburn.

you definitely need a driver and guide. Try [email protected]
Tri is a young man who grew up in the Makong area. I have had him for 2 trips to the Mekong. He works for IndoChina tours so you might try them also, but also does some work for himself. He is the best as he knows the area so well.

Not sure what he would charge for a day as our trip was combined with Saigon. Definitely an airconditioned car with a driver. Tri also brought along bottled water for us along the way.

I recommend Ann Tours based in HCMC (anntours.com). I had a fantastic Mekong Delta trip with them and our guide took us to special places where many tourists don't usually go. It was perfect and the guide was wonderful. I'm sure you'll love the Mekong Delta area!

Another suggestion that would be cheaper. www.sinhcafevn.com
They are on De Than Street in Saigon.
This suggestion was given to me by a friend who lived in Saigon. Also I remember our private guide directing some people tot his tour guide group. Sure they do group tours.
