Help with itinerary for Hiroshima, Onomichi, etc
 

Hi all, I’m planning a trip w my kids (14 & 17) to Hiroshima, Miyajima, Onomichi and cycling the Shimanami Kaido.The cycling portion is a bit in the air and would appreciate any advice on what to see, where to eat, where to stay overnight etc. We’d also like to visit the rabbit island on the way too but not sure how to fit that in. Any advice appreciated!

Day 1 PM flight to Hiroshima

O/N Hiroshima

Day 2 AM Tour Hiroshima PM Ferry to Miyajima

O/N Miyajima

Day 3 AM Tour Miyajima

Train to Onomichi

O/N Onomichi

Day 4 AM tour Onomichi. Send suitcases to Matsuyama from hotel

Pick up bicycles and start the Blue line tour

O/N Setoda (?)

Day 5 Cycle to Imabari and onto Matsushima

O/N Matsuyama or fly back to Tokyo

I've done the rabbit island (Okunoshima) trip before. It's doable as a day trip from Hiroshima, but it'll be a long day. You'd need to take a train to Tadanoumi, then a ferry. The rabbits are cute, but there's not much else there. Might be better to stick to your original plan and enjoy more time in each place.
