Help with Agra to Jaipur

Leaving for India this Friday (26th) - can't wait!

Got most things booked - all hotels now secured and most travel arrangements made but I need to get from Agra to Jaipur. I was planning on hiring a car & driver which I understand can be arranged via the hotel.

Can anyone advise how much I should expect to pay and if in fact this is the best way to make the trip? Thanks - VHS.

i recently did it with a prearranged driver...i think the daily cost of car and driver is about $40-50 inclusive plus a tip...

plan to make a stop along the way to visit the abandoned city....

the trip is really an all day affair...

road is decent...good lunch break areas along the way...

Castle and King Travel agency....rhkkmk..I remember all of your helpful advice on my planning a trip to Thailand,Cambodia and Laos with my17 year old daughter. Your suggestions were wonderful and we did the trip indenpendently of any travelagency or guide. Now,my other daughter and I are planning to go to India in May for 10 days max. Last time there for me was 20 years ago. I AM INTERESTED IN A GUIDE WHO WILL TAKE US TO THE SITES IN DELHI, AGRA (do we want to spend the night there? If I remember, the Taj at dawn was breathtaking) and WHAT ABOUT CASTLE AND KINGS? Anyone familiar with Namaste Tours? thanks

I used Namaste indian tours in November for a mad 6 day dash around Rajastan. Their driver was excellent and I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Pull up my earlier post re PresTours, we did it with them and was lovely. I strongly suggest both a car-driver in May - when even an extra few mins in the heat can become unbearable - and an overnight in Agra to see the Taj as soon as it opens. I always reco visitors to the Taj see it twice, it looks exquisitely different in different lights.

Hobbes..I agree about the Taj at differnt times of day. the first time I saw it was at dawn and it was absolutely worth the effort to be there, then. almost empty. then again, later in the day and it was crowded. BUT posts here say there is nothing else to do in Agra so I was thinking of arriving there late in the day BEFORE, see the Taj at dawn and then continue on to F Sikri, etc. Have been in contact with a guide Marina mentioned here somewhere: Asif in Rajasthan. Anyone else use him recently? thank you
