Uma Ubud's valley views aren't as spectacular as the Ayung River resorts' but it's a beautifully designed property, well managed, good food. Mosaic, Bridges, Indus, Room4Dessert, Neka Museum, Campuhan Ridge are all nearby. It's a good hike to the center of Ubud but transport is easy to come by.

Good traditional food also at Murni's near the Blanco. And you can take Su's Bird walk in the rice fields from there, which ends with lunch at Murni's.. much more than a bird walk btw. You're about 2k from Murni's. Su's English is excellent and she is a good story-teller and guide (and an Ubud area native).

Marmot - thanks for the Uma Ubud recommendation. We checked in a few hours ago and are very happy with it- its website certainly does not do either the property or the.room justice.

You might consider a villa in, for instance, Penestanan, many walking distance from town but relatively quiet, out in the rice and nature.
