Help on my China Itinerary

This is my first time traveling around China. I’m doing a solo twoweek trip. I want to know if people agree or have any suggestions on my itinerary.

Fly into PEK,
Beijing.(6 days)
then fly to Xi’an(3 days)
Fly to Gaungzhou(3 days)
Train to Hong Kong(4 days)
(Maybe Macau 2 days)?
Then fly home.

Do you think I should take a train instead of flying? (I found some cheep flights.) Do you think I should go to Shanghai? Or spend more days in a certain city. Has anyone been to Macau? Is it worth a visit?

I’m a US Citizen living in Korea. My teaching contract is over and I want to travel around china before I go home. So it’s not like I have a certain amount of time, I could spend another week there if I wanted. I’m interested in history and having fun. I only have a one entry visa so when I go to Hong Kong, I’ll go home or to Macau and them home.

I would definitely include Macau, especially since you have the time. Macau is not like HK. There are casinos and regretablly too many of them, the city does have some colonial architechture to enjoy and is an easy day trip from HK.

Have you been to Shanghai? If not you should go. Macau is worth visiting too.

If you need a guide in Hong Kong let me know.

I have talked to a few people and they said I should go to Shanghai. I'm thinking that I'm going to go to Shanghai instead of Gaungzhou. Macau is added to my itinerary.

Why are you splitting your time in Beijing instead of flying Xi'an-Shanghai? Why are you going to Guangzhou?

Do you have two full days in Shanghai or is that nights? If you have two days you could do a day trip to Hangzhou or Suzhou.

I lived in Beijing before, you would prob need more time if you want to see all the sites. Which ones do you want to see anyways? By the way around what time are you thinking of going? Beijing's winters are really windy. I didn't think Xian was all that great. Btw, shopping in Beijing is way more expensive..shopping further to the south is cheaper since the factories are closer.

I would recommend you draw your itinerary going from North to then South, prob take out Xian and include visiting Hangzhou (which is close to Shanghai like thursdaysd suggested) which is really lovely or going to Shenzhen.

Guangzhou is a industrial city, you won't think it's all that pretty after seeing Shanghai and Beijing for example. I'm living in Guangzhou at the moment and here the best things to do I guess is shopping for fake clothes, handbags. So if you want to shop for stuff there I can give you the addresses.

If you want to save some money instead of flying from Guangzhou you can take a 1hr train to Shenzhen and then take train to Hong Kong. Also there's a ferry from HK to Macau if you want to take a look.
